{"id":237,"date":"2019-05-21T17:22:51","date_gmt":"2019-05-21T17:22:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.heyerinc.com\/blog\/?p=237"},"modified":"2019-05-21T17:22:51","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T17:22:51","slug":"important-calendar-dates-your-tax-pro-can-help-you-with","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heyerinc.com\/blog\/2019\/05\/21\/important-calendar-dates-your-tax-pro-can-help-you-with\/","title":{"rendered":"Important Calendar Dates Your Tax Pro Can Help You With"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For many small businesses, keeping track of, and managing their taxes is a yearlong commitment, and there are several important types of deadlines to be aware of throughout the financial year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>January 31<sup>st<\/sup> &#8211; 1099 mailing deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1099 forms for contractors, need to be in the mail by the end of January, and must be postmarked or electronically filed by this date to avoid penalties.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>January 31t \u2013 W-2 mailing deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For traditional employees and not contractors, this is also the deadline for W-2 forms, and they must at least be submitted and sent off by this date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>March 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 S-Corp and partnership tax filing deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your 2018 tax return for S-Corp or partnerships must be filed and submitted by this date. If you\u2019re applying for an extension, this will also need to be done by the same date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Individual income tax filing deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All individuals, including most small business owners, must file their personal tax returns by this date, and payment must also be submitted by then.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Sole proprietor, LLC, Corporation tax filing deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Business taxes for sole proprietors, LLC and C-Corps must be filed and applications for extensions received, by this date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Estimated quarterly income tax payments due for Q1 2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your first estimated quarterly tax payment of 2019 is due by this date if you\u2019re self-employed, or do not pay income taxes through withholding.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 SEP contribution deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For most entrepreneurs with a Simple Employee Pension or who would like to start one, they must do so by the filing deadline of April 15<sup>th<\/sup> for the contributions to count on that year\u2019s return.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 IRA contribution deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IRA contributions made after you file your taxes by the 15<sup>th<\/sup> April, will count towards the following year\u2019s return, and applies to both traditional and Roth IRA accounts.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>June 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Estimated quarterly income tax payments due for Q2 2019 deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The deadline for Quarter 2\u2019s payment, if you have estimated quarterly taxes, is June 15<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>September 16<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Estimated quarterly income tax payments due for Q3 2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deadline this year for Quarter 3 estimated tax payments falls on a Sunday, so the date has been shifted to September 16<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>September 16<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Extension deadline for S-Corps and partnerships<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is the updated deadline for those who have received an extension for their S-Corps or partnership tax returns, and returns must be submitted and paid by this date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>October 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Extension deadline for individuals, sole proprietors, LLC\u2019s and corporations<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is the updated deadline for those who have received extensions as sole proprietors, LLC\u2019s or C-Corps, and returns and payments must be submitted by this date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>December 31<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 401(k) deadline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heyerinc.com\/law-firm-accounting.htm\">Accounts<\/a> for 401(k)\u2019s must be created and funded before the end of the year, whether for yourself or your employees, and any contributions you want to be counted for this year, must also be made by this date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>January 15<sup>th<\/sup> 2020 \u2013 Estimated quarterly income tax payments due for Q4 2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fourth quarter payments for those who are self-employed or pay their taxes quarterly, are not due until 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To ensure that you meet any deadlines required of you, whether you\u2019re self-employed or\u00a0<\/strong><strong>the owner of a small business, consider hiring a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veterinarianaccountant.com\/\">tax professiona<\/a>l who can ensure that you\u00a0<\/strong><strong>never incur any penalties due to late or inaccurate filing.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For many small businesses, keeping track of, and managing their taxes is a yearlong commitment, and there are several important types of deadlines to be aware of throughout the financial year: January 31st &#8211; 1099 mailing deadline 1099 forms for contractors, need to be in the mail by the end of January, and must be postmarked or electronically filed by this date to avoid penalties.
